Belize is a complex fishery. Naturally elusive species such as tarpon, bonefish and permit all conspire with the aid of the tides, wind, and the weather to befuddle even the greatest of anglers. To enjoy consistent success, it is critical to secure the best guide you can. You'll need someone who can sort out all the variables and come up with an agenda that gives you the best chance to both find and boat the "Super Grand Slam" species namely, tarpon, permit, snook and bonefish.

We stongly suggest you select either Martin McCord (see Meca live-aboard above) or Charles Westby. Mr. Westby is one of the Caribbean's most accomplished and popular guides. He is also captain of the 39' motor yacht the Seaduction. Mr. Westby also happens to be Martin McCord's (captain of the Meca) best friend. They worked together for many years captaining the motherships out of Belize River Lodge. Between them, they have spent over 40 years guiding the waters of Belize and captaining motherships. Charles captained the Cristina and Martin captained the Permit and the Blue Yonder. Their long standing friendship enables them to work together with groups of 5-7 people for a two boat charter. These two boats can be anchored together to fish the same water, or they can split up to pursue species in different areas depending on the wishes of the group. Of course, both boats can be chartered separately. The Seaduction sports twin 200 hp diesels, has a fore cabin with two single beds and two single beds in the aft cabin. Each cabin has its own shower and electric head. The Seaduction has a VHF radio and cellular phone. This is an ideal trip for smaller groups of 2 or 3 anglers seeking a trip similar to the Meca.
